33 Simple Living Room Interior Design Ideas

simple living room interior design

It's where your family gathers at night, you wind down on a Saturday afternoon, and where your guests first rest their eyes when entering your home. But while living room design is always an exciting process, it can also turn into a serious money pit (and quickly) if you don't prioritize and maximize what you already have. A minimalist living room should include essentials like comfortable seating, good lighting, and window treatments for privacy and temperature control. Add some fun eclectic pieces to your living room design, like this room's ladder and large feather illustrations. Create a beautiful night sky in your living room by decorating your walls with wood stars.

Choose a sofa that will stand the test of time

Designed by Studio Razavi, this Parisian apartment blends modern decor with neoclassical roots. While the bones of the space evoke a grand sort of opulence, the plush Moroccan rug and spacious white sofa feel more approachable. If you love modern minimalist design but don't want to give up on color, allow this living room designed by Arent & Pyke to guide you. The materials and finishes are pared back to a monochrome palette, allowing the heritage detailing and foundations to stand beautifully as they are.

Instead of pushing all the large pieces of furniture against the walls, create an open layout by floating furniture in the center of the room. Keep the room’s focal point, doors, and windows in mind when deciding on the layout and use a large area rug to anchor furniture and bring the arrangement together. Plenty of natural light flooding in through oversized windows helps create a sense of openness and a connection with the outdoors that’s synonymous with minimalist style. Instead of heavy drapes, keep the windows open when possible or use simple window treatments so as not to block the views and the light.

Opt for Neutral Colors

Come up with a program for saving clusters of other items and magazines out of sight, even if that is in an appealing basket or maybe another kind of storage bin. Plus, while this appears different for everybody, typically speaking, everything inside the home should pair nicely together. This means that every piece—from your couch on the smallest vase—must be classic, simple, & will fit in nicely with the shades of your family room. First, before you start your minimalist living space project, you will want to declutter the whole room. Or else, your family room is sure to look and feel much more cluttered. Go around the area, consider every piece, and object of furniture, and think about if you are able to live without it.

Minimalist Small Living Room Ideas with Neutral Color Scheme

Zigzagging this pendant's cord up the wall and playing with the negative space creates visual interest just as effectively. The best paint colors for the living room will of course depend on your style and the look you want to create. But there are a few general rules if you are struggling to decide on a color scheme.

This bright living room design features unique, modern, and bright furnishings. Simple and classy modern living room by Tate Studio Architects with a perfect view of the mountains. This lively and modern living room design by MGS Architecture features sleek, homey, and minimalist furnishings.

Create a fun Bohemian look in your living room using small wicker coffee tables and abstract illustrations. Make a big impact in a small space by using bold-colored chairs, like this blue armchair. Add a colorful touch to a mostly white living room by displaying your favorite bright objects on corner shelves. Create a vintage look by painting the table white, and then stenciling on your favorite French saying. For an easy decoration for your fireplace, simply hang a string of lights across the mantel. Make your fireplace's mantel pop by using a few bright pieces, like this room's mirror and silver candlestick holders.

If you're a fan of bold patterns, consider using a striped couch in your living room design. If you're looking for monochrome living room decorating ideas, take a look at this modern black and white coffee table featuring black candleholders. Bear in mind, too, that the natural light your living room receives should affect your color choice.

Transforming blank spaces to real homes, Lori Dennis has been one of the leading interior designers in Los Angeles since 2004. Lori caters to those in the community who have a passion for environmentally sustainable interior design solutions, bringing a balance of luxury and wellness to your home. With a focus on cleanliness and simplicity of modern design, Lori melds the two perfectly to create the dream contemporary design home. One of our favorite tricks for adding life to a living space is layering rugs. By choosing different sizes, textures, and colors, you can greatly enhance visual interest in any area. Not only do layered rugs define the space and give it texture, but vibrant patterns can quickly liven up a plain room and make it more inviting.

Minimalist interior design is popular amongst those who crave simplicity in a complicated world. An uncluttered minimalist interior is easier to clean and maintain and appeals to people who want to reduce consumption in the context of the climate emergency. Minimalist interiors with an emphasis on clean lines, natural light, and neutral palettes have a calming feel that many people find appealing. For over 22 years, Cari Berg has transformed many spaces to help clients live beautifully.

Minimalist living rooms take a pared-back approach to furniture, color palettes, and decor, an approach that can be used to create a streamlined feel in any style of interior. This living room has a lot of texture, but the neutral color palette creates an airy feel. Aside from the couch, every piece of furniture has an open base with minimal weight, which fits the minimalist aesthetic. The thin legs of the coffee table, ottomans, and accent chairs create more visual floor space, giving the illusion that the space is larger than it really is.

Also, consider arranging different sizes of pillows together for a cozy, eclectic look. Opt for rounded side tables made from organic materials to incorporate an element of flow in your space. Given that this is your main living area, it's essential to style an inviting room that makes it comfortable to socialize and unwind. Group seating together to create a conversation nook, or swap out chairs from other rooms in your home to see which pieces may work better together.

Tulare County dairy farmer Rep. David Valadao has been in office since 2013, save for a two-year interlude when he was temporarily ousted by Democratic challenger T.J. Cox during the 2018 blue wave of congressional victories nationwide. Valadao regained his seat in 2020 and was one of 10 House Republicans to vote for Trump’s impeachment after the Jan. 6 insurrection. As a first-time candidate emerging from a crowded primary, Tran faces the challenge of building name recognition against a candidate who is already well known in the district.

The “Ensuring Access to Medicaid Services” final rule, finalized today, will help improve access to home care services as well as improve the quality caregiving jobs through its new provisions for home care. Specifically, the rule will ensure adequate compensation for home care workers by requiring that at least 80 percent of Medicaid payments for home care services go to workers’ wages. This policy would also allow states to take into account the unique experiences that small home care providers and providers in rural areas face while ensuring their employees receive their fair share of Medicaid payments and continued training as well as the delivery of quality care.

Six California House races that could help determine control of Congress

Echoing the former president’s legal team, Eric Trump cautioned that without immunity protecting former commanders-in-chief, overzealous prosecutors could have a field day. As in the 13th District to the north, economic issues and inflation will likely be top of mind for these voters. Issues regarding water — including water access for agriculture, as well as water quality and water availability in wells — will also be crucial, along with healthcare access issues, said Thomas Holyoke, a professor of political science at Fresno State University. The district has a slight Latino majority, with white voters also accounting for nearly 40% of the electorate, according to data from California Target Book. It includes cities like Madera, Ceres and Merced and portions of Modesto and Turlock, as well as rural swaths of the San Joaquin Valley. Still, culture war issues are likely to take a backseat to the bread-and-butter economic matters driving daily discourse in the bulk of the district, including inflation, the cost of housing and the extreme commutes that many bedroom community residents face.

CA - 27: Rep. Mike Garcia versus George Whitesides

Back in 2022, Republican Scott Baugh narrowly lost to Rep. Katie Porter (D-Irvine), coming just a few points short of unseating a nationally known Democratic Party superstar backed by her own fundraising juggernaut. The district at the northern edge of Los Angeles County’s suburban sprawl was staunchly Republican territory for more than a quarter-century before 2018’s blue wave, when a young, dynamic candidate flipped the seat and helped retake Democratic control of the House. The other four races — which include the seats currently held by Reps. Josh Harder (D-Turlock), Mike Levin (D-San Juan Capistrano), Young Kim (R-Placentia) and Kevin Kiley (R-Rocklin) — are in Cook’s slightly less pliable “likely Republican” or “likely Democrat” categories. “If Democrats are to have any hope of winning the majority, they probably need to win at least three Republican seats in California,” Wasserman said.

President Biden Names Forty-Eighth Round of Judicial Nominees

With Porter and her whiteboard out of the picture after a failed Senate bid, the former GOP Assembly leader’s competition appears less formidable this time around. The Democratic challenger, state Sen. Dave Min, has little of Porter’s star power. During the March primary, fellow Democrat Joanna Weiss also battered him over a 2023 DUI arrest, a controversy Baugh and Republicans are expected to focus on during the November election. Five of the six seats are currently held by Republicans, with four of those five in congressional districts that President Biden won in the 2020 election. Those six most competitive races are also all being targeted by both the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the National Republican Congressional Committee, with establishment party backing likely to bring even more attention and funding into the districts.

‘Path to 218 runs through California’: State races pivotal in fight to control the House

Many states are already using their own authorities and resources to better protect America’s freshwater systems. For example, North Carolina recently set a goal to protect one million acres of natural lands, with a special focus on wetlands, and to restore one million acres of forests and wetlands within the state. New York state recently enacted statutory changes to its Freshwater Wetlands Act that will safeguard an additional million acres of valuable wetlands.

During the 2022 cycle, Porter hammered Baugh on those campaign violations, as well as his antiabortion stance. That rough primary also put Min at a financial disadvantage going into November. He and Baugh have both raised around $2.3 million, but as of the last campaign finance filing period, Min had a little more than $400,000 left in his war chest, whereas Baugh had $1.9 million. Explore the best places to buy a house based on home values, property taxes, home ownership rates, housing costs, and real estate trends. Once a popular target of jokes about bad fashion (and not just from the evening’s featured comedian host), the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner has morphed in recent years into a less campy, more staid prelude to the Met Gala, which takes place days later. It’s only fitting, really, given the subtext of journalists being jailed around the world.

That decision could mean relegating the matter back to the lower courts to iron out certain aspects of the case, such as the distinction between private and official actions. “The only people who are going to benefit are big law firms in Washington, DC, because they are going to go after every single president. They will start with Obama, Fast and Furious, right, where he gives 2,000 weapons to cartel members,” Eric Trump mused.

Mixed methods research: expanding the evidence base Evidence-Based Nursing

mixed method research design

Teddlie and Tashakkori’s (2009) multilevel mixed designs and fully integrated mixed designs are both complex designs, but for different reasons. A multilevel mixed design is more complex ontologically, because it involves multiple levels of reality. For example, data might be collected both at the levels of schools and students, neighborhood and households, companies and employees, communities and inhabitants, or medical practices and patients (Yin 2013). Integration of these data does not only involve the integration of qualitative and quantitative data, but also the integration of data originating from different sources and existing at different levels. Little if any published research has discussed the possible ways of integrating data obtained in a multilevel mixed design (see Schoonenboom 2016). The key point of this section is for the researcher to begin a study with at least one research question and then carefully consider what the purposes for mixing are.

What should be considered when evaluating mixed methods research?

Lastly, mixed‐methods research findings may ‘speak’ to diverse audiences, with those who are persuaded by statistics being persuaded by the quantitative element of the study, and with those who are persuaded by user experiences and stories being more persuaded by the qualitative element. For example, we view a theoretical drive as a feature not of a whole study, but of a research question, or, more precisely, of an interpretation of a research question. For example, if one study includes multiple research questions, it might include several theoretical drives (Schoonenboom 2016). (d) Utility or improving the usefulness of findings – refers to a suggestion, which is more likely to be prominent among articles with an applied focus, that combining the two approaches will be more useful to practitioners and others. However, it's important to remember that mixed methods research can produce differing or even conflicting results, so it's important to be aware of the potential pitfalls and take steps to ensure that data is being correctly integrated.

What are the opportunities provided by mixed‐methods research?

Finally, 3 research assistants, including an advanced practitioner nurse in hemodialysis and two hemodialysis nurses, were trained as “supporters” for assisting participants in the experimental group and also helping the researcher in implementing the intervention. Additionally, time was dedicated to sharing ideas, demonstrations, repeat demonstrations, and practice. The procedure of framework analysis necessitated a transparent process for data management and interpretation of emerging themes to ensure the robustness of research49. The transparency of this analytic approach enabled two researchers (C.Te. and K.S.) to independently analyze the qualitative data, and the emerging themes afterwards were discussed to obtain consensus among the researchers.

Observational Research – Methods and Guide

If used effectively, mixed methods research can offer valuable insight into topics that would otherwise remain largely unexplored. The authors confirm that the data supporting the findings of this study are available within the article. Feature papers represent the most advanced research with significant potential for high impact in the field. A FeaturePaper should be a substantial original Article that involves several techniques or approaches, provides an outlook forfuture research directions and describes possible research applications. They are world-making technologies that encapsulate different assumptions on causality, rely on different conceptual relations and categorizations, allow for different degrees of emergence, and employ different theories of the data that they internalise as objects of analysis.

Nevertheless, the use of telehealth services can help to empower individuals in terms of their experiences with life-limiting illness, and the experiences of their caretakers, by facilitating the provision of real-time communication between patients and healthcare providers [31]. It can also be used to complement transitions from acute services based on patients’ needs [32]. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze participants’ demographic data and clinical characteristics. Chi-square test was used to test the difference in demographic data between the two groups at baseline. The independent t-test and one-way repeated measures ANOVA were applied to compare differences in mean scores for quality of life between the two groups. One-way repeated measures ANOVA was also used to test the interaction of the Home Telehealth Model within the two groups.

Intervention

The participants in this research were postgraduate students from the Residency Training Program in Advanced General Dentistry at Mahidol University Faculty of Dentistry in academic year 2022, using a volunteer sampling. This program was selected because its objective was to develop graduates capable of integrating competencies from various dental disciplines to provide comprehensive dental care for both normal patients and those with special needs. The recruitment procedure involved posting a recruiting text in the group chat of the residents. Those interested in participating in the research were informed to directly contact us to request more information, and they were subsequently allowed to decide whether they would like to participate. The game components were implemented into the online role-play to enhance motivation and engagement. As challenge and randomness appear to be game elements32,33, five challenge cards were designed and embedded into the online role-play, where a participant was asked to randomly select one of them before interacting with the simulated patient.

Author & Researcher services

Researcher needs to find a journal that accepts longer articles to help broaden existing evidence-based practice and promote its applicability in the nursing field [22]. In this way, methods are effectively reduced to, on the one hand, placeholders for epistemological paradigms and, on the other hand, mediators between one kind of data and the appropriate epistemology. To put it bluntly, the name “mixed methods research” is actually a misnomer, because what is mixed are paradigms or “approaches,” not methods.

More timely visits may also result in earlier interventions, preventing complications and reducing unnecessary use of health services while assisting patients to manage their symptoms at home [15]. Patients who are ill or who find it difficult to travel to attend appointments with physicians can benefit from reduced travel costs; hemodialysis treatment often requires time off work and time away from family, in addition to the financial burden of transportation [12]. Remote monitoring of patients through information and communication technologies, termed “telecare” or “telehealth”, is increasingly being evidenced as a means of addressing the interest in and demands on health services, alongside more patient-focused care [16]. More than 3 million Thais aged 60 and over have been living with chronic illness during the past five years, a statistic that illustrates the increase in chronic illness among the elderly population [3].

Study design and setting

Using this methodology, the same core issue is investigated through the collection, analysis, and interpretation of both types of data within one study or a series of studies. Both qualitative and quantitative data can be collected simultaneously or sequentially (in any order) through a multiphase project. Integration of the two data sources then occurs with consideration is given to the weighting of both sources; these can either be equal or one can be prioritized over the other. Designed as a guide for novice mixed methods researchers, this chapter gives an overview of the historical and philosophical roots of mixed methods research. We also provide a practical overview of its application in health research as well as pragmatic considerations for those wishing to undertake mixed methods research. ‘Mixed methods’ is a research approach whereby researchers collect and analyse both quantitative and qualitative data within the same study.1 2 Growth of mixed methods research in nursing and healthcare has occurred at a time of internationally increasing complexity in healthcare delivery.

The datasets used and analyzed during the current study are available from the corresponding author on reasonable request. The statistics were checked prior to submission by an expert statistician and state their name and email address. Its main strength is the study’s implementation site, namely a hemodialysis center in an urban setting where the prevalence of OPLWH is relatively high. Table 2 shows that most participants in both the experimental and control groups had received kidney replacement therapy or dialysis during the past 1–5 years. Moreover, both groups also had underlying diseases, for example hypertension, diabetes mellitus and heart disease, especially hypertension which was the highest percentage (70–80%) of the chronic diseases found in participants from each group. There were no differences in terms of demographic characteristics of the participants in receiving treatment when comparing the two groups.

Purposive sampling was used to obtain a sample of 54 OPLWH, who participated in the intervention phase of the study over a period of 6 months (between 1 April 2018 to 30 September 2018). Simple randomization was used to assign participants to either the experimental or the control group. The researcher sent information letters and copies of the study protocol to the administrators of the relevant medical units to ask them for permission to collect data.

In addition, older persons who live alone may not be able to maintain their engagement in management with self-care, medical regimens, and self-monitoring, affecting their ability to effectively report about their clinical progression [21]. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, there were limitations related to remote care that created barriers to patient access to continuum care via telehealth, and these limitations disincentivized renal nurses to offer telehealth as an option. However, providing and receiving tele-visiting became the norm for nurses, healthcare teams, and patients when social distancing, stay-at-home, and other hospital policies were introduced in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The utilization of the home telehealth model should be promoted and expanded for its ability to promote equal access to telehealth and the opportunity for CKD patients living with hemodialysis to receive continuing care outside hospitals.

They also recommended to design the gamified online role-play to have different levels where learners could select an option that is suitable for them. All participants were requested to rate their perceptions of teledentistry before and after participating in the gamified online role-play (Supplementary material 1). The assessment scores would inform whether or not the participants could improve their self-perceived confidence and awareness through a learning activity.

Princess ships also offer a Chef's Table experience — a concept the line pioneered in the cruise world. Costing $95 to $115 per person, it includes pre-dinner cocktails and hors d'oeuvres in the ship's galley with the executive chef before a main dining experience at a private table in the dining room. Every Princess vessel has one to three main dining rooms where meals are included in the fare, and these dining rooms are at the heart of the dining experience on Princess ships. Many passengers have all or most of their dinners in a main dining room. Every Princess ship is a destination in itself with wide-ranging amenities, elevated culinary experiences and delightful activities. Below you'll find the deck plans, stateroom details, ship dining information and more for every vessel in our fleet.

Cruises

The one big "attraction" that you will find on the top deck of Princess ships, always at the main pool area, is a giant Movies Under the Stars movie screen. A growing number of cruise ships now have movie screens on their pool decks, but Princess pioneered the concept. On the last three Royal-class ships, for instance, there's a main pool area at the center of the top deck with two full pools and three hot tubs, and a secondary pool area at the back of the ship with another pool. There's also an adults-only pool area toward the front of the vessel, along with an extra-charge, adults-only relaxation area called the Sanctuary. Princess ships are loaded with entertainment that ranges from Broadway-style theater shows to "street entertainers" who appear in each vessel's central piazza.

Three ships left the line's fleet starting in 2020 as part of an effort to cut costs during the line's coronavirus-caused global shutdown. Another two vessels — Golden Princess and Star Princess — had been scheduled to leave the Princess fleet even before the pandemic began. They were transferred to one of the line's sister companies, P&O Cruises Australia.

The line's new Princess Plus plan gives passengers pre-paid gratuities, a single-device Wi-Fi plan and a basic beverage package for a bundled price of $50 per person per day. Beach attire, shorts, baseball caps and casual jeans (think the fraying kind or those with holes) are not allowed. One or more nights per cruise, depending on the cruise length, will be designated as a "formal" night when men are expected to turn out in dark suits with a tie or even a tuxedo. The suggested attire for women on such nights is evening gowns or cocktail dresses. Each group has its own age-appropriate activities, with newly revamped experiences designed to "help young Princess explorers learn, play and create fun memories."

On every Princess ship, you'll find so many ways to play, day or night. Explore The Shops of Princess, celebrate cultures at our Festivals of the World or learn a new talent — our onboard activities will keep you engaged every moment of your cruise vacation. From mariachis to margaritas, the Mexican Riviera is where it all began with our first cruise in 1965. More than 50 years later, we still visit the best ports like Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlán and less-traveled jewels like Loreto and Manzanillo. Sail from Los Angeles or San Francisco on five- to 11-day roundtrip cruises, and stay overnight in Cabo San Lucas on select voyages for a taste of vibrant nightlife.

For families or groups needing a little extra space, Mini-Suites offer an appealing and affordable option. Photos, floor plan diagrams, amenities, and furnishings represent typical arrangements and may vary by ship and stateroom. Experience colonial history, charming Eastern seaboard villages and famed New England seafood when you sail Canada & New England with Princess®. Princess will sail 7-day roundtrip voyages from Boston and New York.

An extraordinary treat for both gastronomes and gourmet novices, the Chef’s Table Lumiere is a perfect culinary journey for any special occasion. Indulge in champagne and hors d’oeuvres, followed by an extravagant multi-course dinner created and hosted by the ship’s executive chef. And with attentive service from a friendly crewmember that knows what hospitality means, you’ll find your Princess® ship truly is your home away from home. There's also the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card, which brings 2 Ultimate Rewards points per dollar on travel and 3 Ultimate Rewards points per dollar on dining. Most onboard activities, such as theater shows, are included in the fare. As you might expect, pricing for ships will generally be lower during offseason periods such as September, October, November (not including Thanksgiving week) and parts of December.
